WJU Summer Career and Cultural Program Week 1

Hola, 你好, Bonjour! Greetings from around the world!

Summer is usually the time to relax and have fun. While most of us are doing the norm such as going to the beach, and grilling burgers outside, some are here at Wheeling Jesuit University experiencing both fun and education. Exciting college classes and activities are offered to visiting American and International students. This summer career and cultural event is happening for the whole month of July.

This week, students from Argentina, Spain, Mexico, South Korea, DR Congo, and Taiwan have arrived at our friendly campus. For some of the students, this was their first time in the United States. Cristo Rey students from Baltimore, New Jersey, and New york have also arrived. A group of Cristo Rey students from several states will be visiting our campus each week. This summer event is a great opportunity to learn about diverse cultures and customs in a college setting. In addition, a part of the whole idea of this program is the chance to meet people coming from different backgrounds. So what better way of getting to know one another? Playing a game of icebreakers!

Here are photos of the students introducing themselves and making new friends.

Classes also started this week and here are some photos.

The students were also very excited about the 4th of July celebration. After a hot day of summer, a trip to downtown Wheeling to watch the amazing fireworks display was the best way to end the day.

The students are very eager to see what WJU has in store for them. We have scheduled a series of fun activities for the whole month and we are looking forward to all of them. Don’t forget to check back next week to see what our students have been doing at their stay here at WJU.
